- Becoming an electrician in the Philippines is one of the best option to pursue because the electrician’s training or course is not so expensive and it can be fulfilled in just a few months or years to become a Certified Electrician. And there are a lot of jobs for electricians here in the Philippines and abroad. Many companies are hiring electricians especially in building construction, factories, commercial establishment and industrial buildings.
What is an Electrician?
- A person who installs, maintains, operates, or repairs electrical equipment.
- A tradesman specializing in electrical wiring of buildings, transmission lines, stationary machines, and related equipment. Electricians may be employed in the installation of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure. Electricians may also specialize in wiring ships, airplanes, and other mobile platforms, as well as data and cable lines.
How to become a Certified Electrician in the Philippines?
- You can have a training, assessment or take an electrician’s course in various training centers and schools or universities who offers electricians/electrical course.
Training
- You can have your training in Electrical Installation and Maintenance(EIM) in TESDA(Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) training centers, or have the actual training or experience in the field and pass the assessment to become a TESDA Certified Electrician.
Electrician’s course
- In highschool the K-12 senior high school students can choose Technical-Vocational-Livelihood in EIM track and pass the assessment to become a Certified Electrician. And there are many training centers, schools or universities offers vocational electricians/electrical course and take the TESDA assessment to become a Certified Electrician.
How to become a Licensed Electrician in the Philippines?
- You have to take and pass the Registered Master Electrician (RME) board examination conducted by Professional Regulation Commission.
Who can take the RME (Registered Master Electrician) board examination?
- He is a citizen of the Philippines;
- He is at least eighteen (18) years of age;
- He is of good reputation with high moral values;
- He has not been finally convicted by the court of an offense involving moral turpitude; and
- He has any of the following technical backgrounds:
- A graduate of BSEE(Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) course or has Completed three (3) years BSEE or a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology Major in Electrical Technology or three (3) year course in Electrical Engineering Technology and has one (1) year experience in electrical related field and a certificate of employment.
- A graduate of Two (2) year vocational electrician’s course and has two (2) years apprenticeship/experience in electrical related field and a certificate of employment.
- A graduate of One (1) year vocational electrician’s course and has three (3) years apprenticeship/experience in electrical related field and a certificate of employment.
- A High School Graduate with five (5) years apprenticeship/experience in electrical related field and has a certificate of employment.
