Registered Master Electrician as Certifying Officer of the Apprenticeship Affidavit Requirements for the PRC RME Licensure Examination

The role of a Registered Master Electrician (RME) as a certifying officer for the Apprenticeship Affidavit, which is a key requirement for candidates applying for the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) RME Licensure Examination, ensures that candidates meet the necessary requirements and qualifications. Below is a detailed overview of the responsibilities, requirements, and process involved:

Overview of the Apprenticeship Affidavit

  • Purpose of the Affidavit: The Apprenticeship Affidavit is a sworn document that attests to the practical experience gained by an aspiring electrician under the supervision of a licensed RME, REE, or a Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE). It serves as proof that the candidate has completed the required hands-on training in the electrical field.
  • PRC Requirement: The PRC requires this affidavit as part of the application process for the RME licensure examination to ensure that candidates possess the necessary practical skills and experience.
Apprenticeship Affidavit Should Be Notarized by the Lawyer: Notarizing the Apprenticeship Affidavit by a lawyer adds an extra layer of legal authenticity and credibility to the document.

Role and Responsibilities of a Registered Master Electrician (RME)

  • Certifying Qualifications: An RME can act as a certifying officer to verify the qualifications of candidates applying for the RME licensure examination. This involves checking the authenticity of documents, such as certificates of employment, training, and relevant experience.
  • Verification of Experience: The RME must ensure the candidate has met the required apprenticeship or practical experience in the electrical field. This typically involves a specified number of years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or related work under the supervision of a licensed RME, REE, or a Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE).
  • Certification of the Affidavit: After verifying the candidate’s experience, the RME certifies the Apprenticeship Affidavit by signing it. This certification confirms that the information provided in the affidavit is accurate and that the candidate has met the practical experience requirements set by the Professional Regulation Commission and is eligible to apply for the licensure exam.
  • Compliance with PRC and IIEE Guidelines: The certifying officer must adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Professional Regulation Commission and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE), ensuring that all endorsements are legitimate and based on truthful and accurate information.
